Cracking The Code: Differential Diagnosis of Speech Sound Disorders
This 2-HOUR COURSE will help you sharpen your diagnostic skills, enabling you to confidently distinguish articulation, phonological, and motor speech disorders.
What you'll learn:
- Identify which key components of a thorough assessment should be considered for differential diagnosis of speech sound disorders (SSDs)
- Recognize when evaluation findings suggest the involvement of other specialists (e.g., orofacial myologist, ENT, craniofacial team, etc.)
- Interpret assessment findings to distinguish articulation disorders vs. phonological impairments vs. motor-based SSDs
- Apply diagnostic decision-making strategies to guide the selection of evidence-based treatment plans
- Recognize common diagnostic pitfalls and how to avoid misclassification of SSDs
Match The Method: Selecting The Best Approach for Speech Sound Disorders
This 2-HOUR COURSE will teach you exactly how to choose the most effective treatment approach based on what your assessment reveals.
What you'll learn:
- Differentiate phonological interventions from motor-based treatment approaches.
- Identify when it's appropriate to use specific phonological approaches, including minimal pairs, multiple oppositions, complexity, cycles, and core vocabulary.
- Summarize key components of articulation-based interventions (e.g., speech motor chaining) and determine when they are appropriate.
- Describe distinguishing features of motor-based approaches for CAS and dysarthria, including DTTC, ReST, and other movement-focused methods.
- Determine when to use approaches for children with very limited phonetic inventories, including the stimulability approach.
- IMPORTANT:
- You only have access to the recordings for 90 days once purchased.
- A certificate of completion will be emailed to you once each course is completed.
